About Emma

I started babysitting when I was 10, and I started teaching when I was 18 years old. I dreamt of opening my school long before its debut in 2017.

My 15 years of teaching experience and Early Childhood Education Bachelors of Science degree guide me as a director and coach. I have worked with over 900 families and I have seen it all.

I specialize in extreme behaviors because I can see the root cause of the behavior and I am drawn to the humanity of the frustrated child.

When I first started teaching I was told to be harsher, that children wouldn't learn enough from my gentle presence. I decided at that moment that softness and understanding would be my root with children. I have yet to meet a child that did not benefit from a warm approach. My guiding belief that deep that all children are inherently good and behaviors are their way of communicating has lead me to work with some of the most troubled children, with SO many success stories.

Principles by which we guide our curriculum:

  • We see children as co-creators of their learning process in the forest and the classroom.

  • We provide a Reggio-Emilia-inspired Forest School curriculum.

  • We believe each group of children brings their own unique interests to school.

  • Our curriculum is based on the interest of the group, ever-changing, and documented by our teachers on a daily basis.

  • At Emerging Sprouts, we believe that every child should have access to expansive nature, nurturing teachers, and peer-to-peer education.

  • At Emerging Sprouts we focus on social-emotional learning and give children the tools to be problem solvers in their own world.

  • We believe that emotional literacy is the key to creating a strong and healthy self-image.

Our School

Emerging Sprouts Forest School takes place outside most of the time, while we do have access to an inside classroom when we need it. We dress for the weather and we share gear lists (including school discounts) for the outside gear your child will need for Forest School.

We meet in Various Cincinnati Parks and will share our exact location with the families enrolled in our program.
