Emerging Sprouts Presents
Crow Canyon Campus
We offer 2-Day, 3-day- and 4-day classes starting in January 2024. The semester dates are 1/10/24- 5/16/24. Our daily hours are 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Early drop-off at 8 a.m. and extended care until 5 p.m. are also offered.
We are located in Castro Valley on a farm in Crow Canyon, directly between Castro Valley and San Ramon. We are an 11-minute drive to Castro Valley BART and a 13-minute drive to Costco in San Ramon.
We are currently enrolling for our 2024-2025 school year.
Ages 3-6 years old. A 3-year-old minimum is suggested to apply, and all children must be potty trained. However, students who are potty-trained at 2.5 and can stay with the group and carry their own backpacks will be considered.
Our class is held outside 100% of the time. We are a Reggio-Emilia-inspired Forest School meeting on a 15-acre wooded piece of land, on a 85 acre farm. We focus on allowing children safe ways to socialize with peers, explore nature, and develop in an emotionally and physically safe environment.
Our co-creative curriculum inspires learning and teamwork.
At Emerging Sprouts, every cohort of students is unique, and we tailor our curriculum to the group's interests. At the beginning of the school year, we lay the groundwork for social-emotional safety and free play in nature and take notes on the group's interests. As the year progresses, we bring activities based on the group's interest, and we allow children in our class to lead group activities and let us know what they want to study. Many of our classes over the years have studied nature or things having to do with nature because of our environment, but we have also studied things like cars or bridges; every class is different.
We allow children to choose which activities they wish to participate in, and while we do not formally “teach” letters, numbers, colors, etc., children often naturally learn all the skills they might pick up in an indoor preschool and more while they are enrolled with us at Forest School.
